It began around noon, when a Pennsylvania Constable was at a home on the 800 block of North Halstead Street to "perform an official action involving a male resident" on the property, Allentown police said. They did not detail or describe the "official action."

At some point during the visit, the man "barricaded himself" in the home and threatened to harm the Constable and any other responding law enforcement, according to the release.

Officers were able to talk the man down and "resolve the incident peacefully," authorities said. No one was injured, and the man was taken to a nearby hospital for "mental health treatment," they added.
